Can you provide a source for your edit to the Miscanthus article? The external link http://bioenergy.ornl.gov/papers/miscanthus/miscanthus.html seems to suggest that the plant only reaches 3.5m at maturity, that is after 5 to 6 years, although it can be profitably harvested after only one growth season.
