I am an American Australian (with some Dutch heritage) who is new to editing Wikipedia but keen to learn how it's done. I have interests in a wide range of subjects, particularly biology and linguistics (which I majored in at uni), but also history, culture, politics, psychology, philosophy, theology, literature, music and pretty much anything that involves a system of living things (be they human or animal - I'm not much of a botanist!). Good grammar in writing is something I'm passionate about and I love tweaking articles to make them perfect with respect to spelling, punctuation, formatting etc. I have some experience working as a transcriptionist but every style guide is different and I'm still learning the minutiae of Wikipedia's formatting style. I currently work as a research analyst at a think tank, which has given me plenty more practice in researching and writing about a wide range of topics. I tend to lean more conservative on the political spectrum (although according to the political compass test I'm a centrist). I want to challenge myself by learning how to write articles from scratch and contribute to articles in a wide range of areas, so I'm very open to whatever feedback more experienced editors can give me.
