RE: Techinical problem with my sig
[edit]Hi there,
I looked into this and I was a bit puzzled, but then I played around with the italics that you have (the 's) and I think that I managed to fix it. The code for your signature is:
'''''[[User:Rectilinium|<span style="color: #ADADAD">Rectilinium</span>]]'''''[[User talk:Rectilinium|<span style="color: #C81717">''''''♥''''''</span>]]
Which produces (the time & date are automatic):
Rectilinium'♥' 03:34, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Therefore, simply go to Special:Preferences and replace your signature with the code above (if you copy from the edit window, remove the nowiki tags and keep the raw signature option ticked).
I hope this helps,

[edit]I am happy to help! My sincere apologies for not responding to you sooner.
I'm currently very restricted in my ability to work on wikipedia, very busy in life right now, but I fully intend to review and edit your article for you. And I do believe the article could be released right now; after all, people will improve it further than I can, and I can still go in and make more edits then when I have the chance (Jacob Westervelt).
I must say...my surprise is great, at your ability to create such a beautiful article from scratch. (Jacob Aaron Westervelt) Bravo!

- Thanks :) I'll move the Jacob Westervelt article as soon as possible. Concerning the Jacob Aaron Westervelt-article: it was like a huge confusing puzzle. There is no book or article yet that gives a general (complete) view of his life and work. Thats the reason why I made this article (150 hours of research and writing). It was the same thing with my other contributions West Point (1847) and Robert Kermits Red Star Line. You cant simply google these subjects. You won't find much information. Thats actually my intention: writing articles about topics, that are burried in oblivion ;) --Rectilinium'♥' 08:27, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- Just to let you know, I have begun to copy edit Jacob Aaron Westervelt to fix the grammar and syntax and also to tone down some of the flowery, unencyclopedic language - this isn't a negative criticism, but some of the tone is a little non-neutral. – ukexpat (talk) 20:34, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Saw your notice at WT:SHIPS. You've done a great job with this article! I am in the middle of a maintenance project, but I'd be happy to give this a copyedit soon. It has excellent potential for advancement to GA and even FA quality with some work. If you don't see me working on it within a few days, please feel free to ping my talk page to remind me—it looks fascinating, and I'd love to help. Maralia (talk) 21:04, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you very much Maralia... it would be great if you could help to improve this article :) --Rectilinium'♥' 21:07, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- @Ukexpat: Great, thank you very much...
- @Maralia: It seems for some user it is not more than a low importance B-Class article (I should probably stop to invest so much hard work into an article, if it makes no difference if I write a stub (within 10 minutes) or a 60 kb-article (where I invested 150 hours of research and writing)...)--Rectilinium'♥' 16:58, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- B-class is the highest quality rating that is typically given by a project without the article going through a formal review process, and is also the highest quality rating an article is likely to garner while it still needs copyediting. Also, I don't see a low importance rating—I see mid-importance for WPNYC. Please don't take any of that too much to heart anyway; the ratings are not immutable, the article is still in flux, and it clearly has potential to move up the 'ranks' quickly. For what it's worth, your work on it makes a difference to me: I am looking forward to reading and working on the article! Maralia (talk) 17:26, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- Probably Im a bit a hothead... :O... Thanks again for offering your help --Rectilinium'♥' 17:31, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

DYK
[edit]When you put this into the article mainspace, you may want to consider nominating it for DYK. Just a thiought. --The New Mikemoral ♪♫ 22:58, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hi... thanks for the information :)... is it possible to nominate it by oneself? The article actually is not ready yet. I asked a view people if they could have a look at it, and most of them agreed. But until now, nowbody started to edit it, probably because the article is so extensive? --Rectilinium'♥' 23:42, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- It's a little too late to go for a DYK. It's only for articles created or expanded fivefold in the last 5 days. I suggest you go for WP:GAN after you complete it. The article looks good enough to me. The tone of the article in some places is a little bit peacock-ish but that can be fixed. Chamal talk 05:46, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- gg... I didnt know the word peacock-ish... ok, then I wait until this is fixed, and then I move it. So it is too late for DYK, even if I havent moved it to the public space? It was in my Sandbox all the time... (and I found the following sentence on the DYK page: For those workpages first developed in user space, the date the workpage is posted to article namespace may be counted as the first day towards the DYK 5 day rule. --Rectilinium'♥' 15:23, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- lol... oh no, its not so bad, that you deserve a trout :). Ok, then I start by nominating it for DYK... --Rectilinium'♥' 08:43, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

West Point query
[edit]Hi. I was looking at the West Point (sailing ship) article, and wondered about the sentence "It was one of a view Ocean packets of ...". I thought I should check with you before changing it, to read something like "It was one of a few ocean-going packet ships operated by ...". Is this new wording OK? Thanks, Trafford09 (talk) 07:22, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Trafford... yes thats ok. Im actually not a native english speaker... Im Swiss. So thats why my english is not perfect and Im very glad, if the people help me to improve the article! --Rectilinium'♥' 15:20, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
