Jade Vyfhuis (born November 27, 2001) is a footballer who plays for Vaughan Azzurri in League1 Ontario. Born in Canada, she represented the Guyana women's national team.
Early life
[edit]Vyfhuis played youth soccer with Unionville Milliken SC from 2013 to 2016,[1] later moving to Markham FC from 2017 to 2019.[2] At high school level, she won a York Region Athletic Association silver medal.[3]
University career
[edit]In 2019, she began attending Ryerson University, where she played for the women's soccer team.[4][5] She scored her first goal on September 15, 2019 against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks,[6][7] also recording her first assist in the same match, with her performance earning her a Star of the Week honour.[8] She was a finalist for Ryerson's Rookie of the Year across all sports and helped Ryerson reach the OUA quarter-finals for the first time in the program's history.[9] In September 2021, she was named Athlete of the Week.[10]
Club career
[edit]In 2017, Vyfhuis played for Unionville Milliken SC in League1 Ontario.[11]
In 2019, she played for Alliance United FC.[12] She scored her first goal on June 8 against FC Oshawa.[13]
In 2021, she played for Blue Devils FC.[14]
International career
[edit]In 2018, she was called up to the Guyana national team for the first time for the CFU Women’s Challenge Series.[15] She made her debut on April 26, 2018 against Grenada.[16]
In 2019, she was named to the roster for the Guyana U20 for the 2020 CONCACAF Women's U20 Qualifying Tournament.[17] She debuted in the first match against Bermuda, serving as team captain.[18] She helped them qualify for the 2020 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship, where they advanced to the quarter-finals.[2] She scored her first goal on February 23 against Nicaragua U20.[19]
