Hi, I'm Gabu!

I speak English and Spanish fluently, and also speak Galician/Portuguese fluently (although I am even more proficient in the first two languages I mentioned).

I grew up in the US, in New England: a little time in Vermont, a lot of time in New Hampshire, and a fair amount of time in Connecticut. I am currently living with my partner in Mos, in Pontevedra, Galicia. I am a college student but have had the privilege to be able to take time off to reflect on my scholarly endeavors and how I feel about school. I plan to return this fall.

While abroad I have learned so much about language and culture in the area. I keep myself busy studying languages (I am a huge language/linguistics geek). Though I enjoy reading many different kinds of articles, I most often read pages on Wikipedia about different languages or look up words I am interested in on Wiktionary. My favorite area of linguistic study would have to be phonology. In addition to my interest in linguistics, I spend a lot of times writing about my life and also writing stories.

I am not that well-versed in webpage design or how Wikipedia is structured and formatted and so on, so when I make edits to pages, they are to correct typos, add missing information about words/definitions/pronunciation, that kind of thing. While I may not be making huge changes, I like to think that I am somehow doing my part to improve various pages that are part of the project, which I think is quite a worthy endeavor indeed. I aim to always be open to listening to suggestions and comments on my participation in editing Wikipedia-related things.
