Arturo Cataluña Ubaub

Arturo Cataluña Ubaub (born January 28, 1946),also known as Art Ubaub, is the 7th Provincial Prosecutor or Provincial Fiscal of Misamis Oriental, Philippines. He was appointed on (month/date/year), by then Philippine President Joseph Ejercito Estrada, thru the recommendation of then CDO City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano, succeeding Fiscal Rene Pelaez. He was appointed, despite many senior assistant prosecutor awaiting promotion.

Prior to his appointment, Ubaub was a successful private lawyer, whose accolades includes the successful deals after the messy battle between giant stevedoring companies in port of Macabalan.

Early life He was born in Alubijid, then a part of Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental. He was the second among nine children to Mr. Matias Mugot Ubaub and Paulina Manlegro Cataluña of Loon, Bohol. His father used to work as an Inspector of the Mindanao Bus line, and later on worked with DPWH. He credits his mother for his strong character, as Paulina was a disciplinarian.

Even at a young age, he had always believed in the value of education. His mother noticed this and would always delay his enrollment or purchasing of notebooks, believing that one would always find a way to pursue their passions. Contrary to children at those times, you can scare him by not letting him read books or not sending him to school. In fact, because of this fear, he learned to seek side employment at a young age to fund his school needs.

He graduated Valedictorian in Burnay Elementary School in Gitagum.

During his highschool days, Arturo would travel from Burnay, Gitagum to Cagayan de Oro City on a a bike to Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS), and then bike home on weekends. He also graduated as Valedictorian.

Shift from Engineering to Law While attending a class in Liceo de Cagayan, he overheard that the professor in the law school near them class calls his students as "Congressman of (place of address of student)". That picked his interest and henceforth decide to take up law.
