A.J. Bernet Kempers Prof. Dr. A.J. Bernet Kempers or Mr. A.J. Bernet Kempers, was born on October 8, 1906, in Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.[1]A.J. Bernet Kempers is a Dutch archaeologist,headed the Office of Antiquities, article writer also a lecturer.[1]J Bernet Kempers Passed away and burried in The Netherlands in 1992.[2]

Education and Training

A.J. Bernet Kempers studied linguistics, archeology and cultural history at Leiden University from 1926, He also completed his dissertation in 1933.[1]In 1947 A.J. Bernet Kempers left for Indonesia to become head of the Oudheidkundige Dienst or Institute of Antiquities. [1]The position as head of the Antiquities Institute is held by A.J.[1]Bernet Kempers until 1953, after that the Institute of Antiquities was headed by R. Soekmono, where this institution later changed to the Institute of Antiquities and National Heritage (LPPN).[1]

A.J. Bernet Kempers has produced approximately 200 scientific article titles spread across various media and various languages.[1] Among them are books and articles entitled Wat is Archaeologie, Ancient Indonesian Art, Monumental Bali, Angeless Borobudur. [1]In Angeless Borobudur Book, published in 1976.[1] A.J. Bernet Kempers estimates that the construction of Borobudur Temple was built in the 8th century AD, this is based on his observations of short writings which contain Karmawibhangga reliefs located at the foot of Borobudur Temple.[1]

Aside from being a researcher, A.J. Bernet Kempers was also a lecturer; he worked as a professor of archeology at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta from 1940 to 1942. but because of the war, he was held in a Japanese prisoner camp. [1]After the war he worked in Indonesia for some time, but in 1958 he returned to the Netherlands, where he began working as a curator at the Dutch Open Museum in Amhem. [1]Towards the end of his life he also became a professor of ethnology at the University of Amsterdam.[1]
