Mrs.Gnanampikai Pathmasigamani - Violinist
Mrs.Gnanampikai Pathmasigamani is born on 03rd March 1943 and well known musician and violinist from Srilanka. She has started her early Journey in Carnatic Music from Puththuvaatti Somasundaram in SriLanka.
She is a gold medalist and first rank student and obtained Sangeetha Vidvan award from Govt.Carnatic Music College India.
Mrs.Gnanampikai Pathmasigamani continued her learning from M S Anantharaman an Indian Carnatic and Hindustani violinist. Who was an exponent of Parur style of violin playing.
Teaching and Performing become as her passion in Music and her specialization in Violin brought her as a prominent artist in India and Srilanka.
After returning from India she decided to teach music and violin to School student to elders and started her teaching career in Vembadi Girls High School which was the first Girls National School in Northern Province.
Since her talent and dedication been recognized by several educational bodies in Sri Lanka and she has been appointed University Grant Commission as a Lecturer In Carnatic Music at University of Jaffna Since 1979 to 1990.
In 1994 she migrated to United Kingdom and established a Music School in the name of Gnanalaya Fine Arts and started to teach Traditional Carnatic Music and Instruments.
Mrs.Gnanampikai Pathmasigamani is still continuing her contribution to the Musical society as an Advisor, Examiner, Teacher and as an accompanied artist in UK and European countries.
She daughter.son and grand kids are also following her tradition in music.
