The 2015–16 Liga I was the third season, since its reintroduction in 2013, of the second level women's football league of the Romanian football league system. 21 teams divided in 2 series were to play in the competition that consisted of a double round-robin lasting 14 or 22 stages, totaling 200 matches.[1] However, since 2 teams withdrew, the remaining 19 teams played a total of 162 matches.

SCM Bacău changed its name back to Măgura 2012 Bacău after an unsuccessful partnership which lead to a premature withdrawal in the previous season.
