  • 1984-1985 Wideband Satellite Network (Steve Blumenthal's group), worked on Pluribus router and the Voice Funnel. In 1985 implemented a simple IP router to enable the Wideband Network to carry IP traffic as part of the Internet backbone, in all likelihood the first routing of IP traffic over a T1 line on the backbone.
  • 1985-1992 SIMNET and related combat vehicle simulation efforts. Largely responsible for protocol optimization, led all efforts for the wide-area network including carrying voice traffic.

After BBN:

  • Founded RTIME, Inc., purchased by Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA) as the basis for their in-game network for the PS2.
  • Several tours of duty at Microsoft, including the first version of the AutoPC (MS's first speech-driven product), SAPI 5.0, and Forza Motorsports.
  • Helped Zipper Interactive ship the SOCOM I, SCEA's first speech-driven product. SOCOM was awarded "Online Shooter of the Year". Work included the voice interface, the voice chat feature, and AI code.
  • Short tour of duty at Cray, Inc., working on an multi-terabyte scale in-memory graph analysis for an undisclosed client
  • Current startup is HeartRate Games, Inc., working on blending aerobic exercise equipment with interactive games and other activities
