There is a very famous Dargah of Hazrat Shah Arif Safi (Died: 1903 A.D./­1320 A.H.) situated in the village Saiyed Sarwan, Allahabad.U.P. He belonged to Chishti Nizami Sufi order. He built his Khanqah in that village which is known as Khanqah-e-Arifia. Hazrat Shaikh Abu Saeed Shah Ehsanullah Mohammadi fondly known as Abbu Miyan, is present Sajjada Nasheen, spiritual master and caretaker of that Khanqah. He obtained early education at his home, and then joined Aligarh Muslim University to complete his graduation in Persian. He is living example of his great Sufi ancestors. He has founded a modern Madrasa named Jamia Arifia, in order to impart teachings of Shariat and Tariqat and Sufi values. His magnetic personality, high moral values, exemplary character and Sufi style of living attracts people from all walks of life towards him and men and women of all section of the society without any discrimination visit his Khanqah in folk. He stresses upon love of Allah and service for the whole being. His vision of the world is marked by a highly evolved sense of peace and tolerance. He believes in the traditional Sufi ideas and practices particularly Samaa (Quawwali) and holds monthly Samaa program in his Khanqah. These programs which he leads are always filled with ecstatic spiritual Ahwaal(States) like crying, calling unintentional Sufi slogans etc. This Khanqah provides Langar (free of charge food) twice a day to about 400 people. He scintillates his attendants and companions with his lucid spiritual speeches delivered in a very soul touching style and people in his company return with overflowing eyes, peaceful soul, devotional heart and enlightened mind. His whole life is dedicated to the service of people specially needy and down-trodden. Making ill-character people pious and struggling for the spiritual and social betterment of human folk has been his life-time mission. He has produced a number of trained Khalifas (Caliphs) and disciples. He is blessed with poetic nature, and has composed a number of Sufi Ghazals, Hamd,Naat and other forms of Sufi poetry, particularly his Mathnawi named Naghmaat –al-Asraar is true reflection of his Sufi personality, ideas , teachings and spiritual experiences. He is Managing Trustee of Shah Safi Memorial Trust and carrying all his activities under the said trust and its several umbrella branches, including Shah Safi Academy which publishes bi-yearly Urdu digest Al-Ehsaan on Sufism and the magazine Khizr-e-Rah monthly, other than this edit and research work on various Sufi books is in progress. In brief, he is one of the most prominent, pragmatic and dynamic Sufi of current era and his Khanqah invokes the sweet memories of old golden Sufi and Khanqahi age.
