Article Critique

[edit]

I visited the Pokemon(video games) page on Wikipedia and I found two aspects of it worth commenting: Its section on Pokemon in other games has no references, The reception and legacy section could use some more information and there are several instances of bias in the article.

Pokemon in Other Games Section

[edit]

The section on Pokemon in other games has no references or citations, there are many great articles on the playable Pokemon characters in the four Super Smash Bros games. There has been playable Pokemon characters since the very first Smash Bros game the person who wrote this section could have at least posted a link to a page that shows the characters lists in each game to provide some proof that the whole section isn't just made up. The sections goes on the talk about the non playable Pokemon characters also in the game but provides no source of the information.

Reception and Legacy Section

[edit]

The Reception and legacy section on the Pokemon page is sort and doesn't offer very much information and Wikipedia has even addressed this by putting a banner saying as much on the top of the section. The section has good citations and references for all the information that is there but it could use someone with an unbiased opinion to research that area of the games and add so more information about how the Pokemon games have influenced other games on the market. Another thing that could be done to this section to make it better would be to maybe use some references and citations from a source other than video game focused media like BBC.com article on the legacy of Nintendo and its section on Pokemon.

Conclusion

[edit]

The Pokemon(video games) page on Wikipedia while being a rather large page has a few same sections in it that could use some work by adding more resources, citations and just general information that might help keep it less bias and more factual. These small changes could add more depth to some sections of the article that could really use it, and help make Wikipedia a more reliable source of information.
