List of things I have learned about wikipedia and wikiversity
[edit]- Wikipedia is a multilingual,web-based,free content encyclopedia. There are about 34,06,815 articles. The most interesting article for me is about a series named Tokyo mew mew written by Reiko Yoshida. These articles are very interesting and very informative.
- Wikiversity is all about colloborative learning where many users share their views. There are many learning resourses and learning projects in Wikiversity. There are about 13,016,968 users registered.
- In Wikipedia, there is a column for daily news where we can know what is happening around the world at this point of time. There are many amazing facts which are quite interesting. There are about 849,968 uploaded files which give a lot of information.
- In wikiversity, you can the current developments happening around the world. One interesting thing I found was about the Sandbox Server. The Sandbox Server 0.5 was a project that aimed to provide technical infrastructure for content development projects and other learning activities. The server provided a number of services, such as messaging via IM and mailing lists, file hosting, media streaming and even a disposable MediaWiki installation.I found ou that Wikiversity participants tested the trial services available on the server to see if they could make use of them as part of Wikiversity activities.
- One best thing I found was,if you want any information in your desired fields, its very easy for you to search because everything is systematically categorized.
Math formula
[edit]In mathematics, an elliptic divisibility sequence (EDS) is a sequence of integers satisfying a nonlinear recursion relation arising from division polynomials on elliptic curves. An elliptic divisibility sequence (EDS) is a sequence of integers (Wn)n ≥ 1 defined recursively by four initial values W1, W2, W3, W4, with W1W2W3 ≠ 0 and with subsequent values determined by the formula; W2n+1w13=wn+2wn3-w3n+1Wn-1,n>=2. It can be shown that if W1 divides each of W2, W3, W4 and if further W2 divides W4, then every term Wn in the sequence is an integer.

Assignment2
[edit]a)I think they must include more information about the cobweb plot such as the applications where it is used. b)The cobweb plot helps us to study the behaviour of solutions to recurrence equations. It is very useful in military purposes also.
Math 544 HW-6: I would like to add exercises and quizzes to the Newtons method. It would be very helpful for the reader to find the best approximate roots using this technique.
Project Report
[edit]
My final project is about building useful and helpful exercises and quizzes to the newtons method to Wikiversity page.I felt that giving an example before an exercise or quiz makes it more meaningful. Before engaging in the final project,I did small exercises and quizzes in the wikipedia page so that I will get a clear idea when it comes to the main project.
My initial experience was that I went through a lot of books to really know how to start the topic and what type of examples I should include.First thing I did was I went through the wikipedia page on the newtons method and thought what should be added for making the readers easy to understand the topic.
I found the existing page on wikipedia very useful but I thought adding more examples and quizzes makes the user more thorough in the topic and the user can use these exercises for practice instead of finding a book or any other source for practicing them.
I proposed to include the newtons method wikipedia page so that the user can go through it before heading to the exercises. Then I started my actual project.Firstly,I explained why do we use this application and then stated how this method is useful to find the solutions.I restated the newtons formula. Then I started with a simple example explaining the formula and solving it using the method. So after solving two examples,I developed a simple exercise problem for the user to solve by himself. This will be good starting for the user before heading further.
Next, proceeding further,I explained the problems where the newtons method fails.First I stated the conditions where the method fails. So,again I started off with a simple example and started solving it and found that the newtons method fails. So using this ,I developed an exercise problem where the newtons method fails. So now the user will get a clear idea in which conditions the newtons method fails.
Final thing I did was ,I developed a quiz of five questions. So this quiz covers all the concepts starting from the basics to the failing of this method. So,after solving the quiz the user will be confident in the newtons method concepts.
So I conclude by saying that I have a learned a lot from the wikipedia page of how to use it ,how to modify it and I am really happy to be a part of it and contributing from my side to the newtons method topic.
