Dragonball Z: Abridged is a fan based parody of the Dragonball Z t.v series by Akira Toriyama.[1] Created by Team Four Star, the series uses clips from the original anime with sounds dubbed over by voice actors. Although much of the original script is changed for comedic effect, the overall plot and characters remain relatively unchanged. The series began on Youtube in June, 2008. [2]

Plot

[edit]

The plot follows the one from the original series, with minor changes added for comedic effect. [3]

Season one begins with an invasion of Earth by various Sayian fighters from the planet Vegeta. After Goku dies from a fight with Radditz, he begins his training with King Kai to prepare for the arrival of Vegeta and Nappa. During this time, Piccolo sees much potential in Goku's son, Gohan, and begins training him. In a long fought battle against Vegeta, Goku finally wins with the use of the spirit bomb.

Season two begins with most of the Z-fighters having been killed by Vegeta. Thus, they go to planet Namek to recover the Dragon Balls and wish their friends back to life. During this time, Freeza and Vegeta are also hunting for the Dragon Balls so that they may wish for immortality. A cat-and-mouse chase for the Dragonballs ensues and many Nakemian civilians are slaughtered in the process. After many fights and many deaths, the Z-fighters obtain the Dragonballs and wish their friends back to life. The season ends with Goku transforming into a Super Saiyan to defeat Freeza as the planet Namek is blown up.

Theme Song

[edit]

The series uses a shortened (abridged) version of the "Cha-La Head-Cha-La" from the original Japanese Dragonball Z anime series. [4]
