Artist. The artist was born in Roses on October 12th, 1961, where he still lives most of the year. He feels deeply rooted in the Ampurdan region: sand, wind and reed are his favourite motives. SÁNCHEZ SANTIAGO is particularly fond of Aiguamolls de l'Emporda and Cap de Creus: both places offer wild sceneries were he discovers and recreates the multiple effects of the wind upon sand, sea and rocks. The painter is an autodidact and his motives are recurrent. He loves ochre and brown tones wich he mixes with sand, cement and varnish in order to obtain mat colous. He wants to express the purity of forms by using different disciplines and a great variety of materials. In SÁNCHEZ SANTIAGO'S own words the secret of his success lies in the fact that he has remainet pure himself by absorbing the natural elements of earth sea and wind so intimately that he has become part of these elements himself. His agenda for expositions in foreign countries is full of commitments: he has presented his works all over Europe and is now present in the United States and Canada. For more than eighteen years he has been present in Switzeland where he already eraned several prices as draughtsman and a painter. But he is not only a painter but also involvet in sculpture, installation and house art projects. He takes part in international art exhibitions.
