I am an Indian software developer, (on the wrong side of forties) by profession. I edit 2 food policy websites called [1] and [2] My interests include fiction / largely French, Russian and German literature and films, in reverse order, with the notable exception of one adorable English writer, Lawrence Durrell.

My favorite books are Justine, Metamorphosis, Albert Camus' "The Fall, Proust's Remembrances of Things Past, all the works of Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Thomas Mann and writings of Saadat Hasan Manto, Premchand, Sant Kabir. I have spent many happy hours, of many happy years, of many happy lives, reading books before I stumbled upon Internet.

I believe the best things in life are free. And that the management guru who declared there are no free lunches, had an unhappy isolated childhood, and very boring school tiffins, a sorry victim, of the perils of self conceited and floundering capitalism, gone hopelessly awry somewhere.
