Sanjeeb Kumar Mahanta was born on17th October 1983 to a family of farmer in a small village Katarabeda in keonjhar district of Odisha. He was the only children born to Dambarudhar Mahanta and his wife, Bilash Manjari . While a teenager, Sanjeeb working in the agricultural field with his parent.[19] He completed his schooling in Dhenkikote, where a teacher described him as being an average student. He completed his Bachelor's degree in political science from DD college, Keonjhar. After graduation He began work as a reporter. simultaneously he joined as a volunteer in Nehru Yuva kendra Sangathan otherwise known as NYKs, Keonjhar.where he inspired for social service.As a journalist in The Prajatantra he known as a bold decisive worker. In this time he contested ward member bi-election. But sadly defeated because of joint conspiracy of Panchayat members. After 3 years he joined as a proof reader cum Sub-Editor in The Jhankar a reputed magazine in Odisha. In this period he completed his PGJMC and then became a full–time media professional as per current modern language. Then year by year he worked as a Sub-Editor in a number of Odia newspaper office.
