Crystal Server
[edit]Crystal Server enables automated distribution, self-service access to reports, dashboards, and data exploration within a secure infrastructure for reports created with the Crystal Reports application. It is made by SAP SE.
History
[edit]After the acquisition of Crystal Decisions by Business Objects in 2003, the first release of the enterprise platform was Crystal Enterprise 11 in 2004, later renamed to BusinessObjects Enterprise Xi. The three editions of BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Xi platform were named Crystal Reports Server Xi, BusinessObjects Edge Xi and BusinessObjects Enterprise Xi. Crystal Reports Server Xi was limited to reporting only, with Crystal Reports Xi as the report design tool. BusinessObjects Edge Xi and BusinessObjects Enterprise Xi had expanded capabilities, broader support of analytics tools such as Web Intelligence and wider licensing options. Crystal Reports Server Xi and Crystal Reports Server Xi R2 only had Concurrent Access License available for purchase at initial release, available in increments of 5, 10 and 20, with 20 Concurrent Access License as the maximum.
With the release of Crystal Reports Server 2008 in 2008 came the added support of Crystal Dashboard Flash files. Crystal Reports Server 2008, Crystal Server 2011 and Crystal Server 2013 all have Named User Licenses (NUL) and Concurrent Access Licenses (CAL) available for deployments. Minimums for both NUL and CAL start at 5, with 100 NUL and 250 as the maximums.
Crystal Server 2016 has Named User Licensing available in increments of 1, with a maximum of 100; a license of Crystal Reports 2016 is bundled with NUL deployments. Concurrent Access License is only available in increments of 5 CAL, with 50 CAL as the maximum; unlimited Publishing is included with CAL. Mobile viewing licenses for NUL or CAL deployments are also included for the first time.
