History
[edit]Metastorm was established in 1996 as a business process management (BPM) vendor. Through a series of acquisitions, including Sysgenics, BEI and Software Systems Group, it extended its capabilities and has since been recognized by independent analyst groups like Butler [1], Forrester Research [2] [3], Gartner [4] and IDC [5] who categorize Metastorm as offering integrated software solutions across the three related disciplines of enterprise architecture (EA), business process modeling and analysis (BPA), and BPM.
Metastorm evolved its original human-centric BPM product — e-Work® — into a BPM suite designed to support the full process management lifecycle. The software was rebranded as Metastorm BPM® following Metastorm’s acquisition of CommerceQuest in 2005.
In 2007 Metastorm acquired Proforma Corporation – adding the Metastorm ProVision® enterprise architecture and business process modeling and analysis solutions to its portfolio. That year Metastorm also acquired two more companies- Process Competence, a European firm that helped organizations design and optimize customer-oriented business processes, as well as Spotlight Data, a software company specializing in process data collection and analysis. These acquisitions allowed Metastorm to add the Metastorm Discovery™ solution for human-centric process discovery to its product offerings.
