Education

M.Sc. Biochemistry; Thesis Title: Anatomical abnormalities in the central nervous system of Cx32 knockout mice.

B.Sc. Honours Neuroscience, Thesis Title: The role of Connexin32 in cell signaling during neuronal development and differentiation.

Experience

Conducted research in microbiology. Researched and co-authored a published international policy report identifying cancer control strategies in OECD countries, funded by the National Cancer Institute. Worked to improve food safety, animal and plant health. Made recommendations to address transmissible encephalopathies (TSEs). Researched risk assessment strategies for animal-sourced products in veterinary pharmaceuticals intended for food-producing animals in several countries. Worked on strengthening and improving health legislation and supporting policies. Provided analysis of policy positions and strategies concerning the three sisters (Codex, OIE and IPPC) recognized under the WTO Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures.

Educational Research

Co-auhored a disruptive technology hypothetical and educational case study of embedded and portable communication and informatics system necessary to monitor stem-cell therapy for a hypothetical client applying a new stem cell-based technology to help patients replace damaged cells and fully recover a normal and healthy heartbeat.
