The first exploit of the Marathas after the departure of the Peshwa seems to have been the capture of Chik Balapur." Trimbak Rao captured Gurumkonda in October after a long siege of about ten weeks. The place was then in charge of Saidu Mian, Mir Reza's nephew, who offered stubborn resistance to the Maratha.Gopal rao defeated three Mysore general Chandroji Jadav, Balaji Pant und Syed Muhamınad at Punganuru.
Aftermath
[edit]Towards the end of January maratha captured balapur and as the health of peshwa became ill they return to poona giving 10000 troops and 10 guns to Trimbak rao . Gopal rao died on 7 February

2.Khare SP.D., Lxxvii, 211, shows that the Chief of Chik Balapur saw the Peshwa in May and agreed to pay an annual tribute of one Iskh besides military amistance. Peixoto (V1, 84) says that one of Haidar's commanders defeated the besiegers.
