United States Government Exchange Alumni Association (USGEAA) is a voluntary organisation which was created by the United States Mission in Nigeria under the direction of the U.S Department of States in Washington DC.

History

The association is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria and it is the parent organisation from many US Department of State exchange programs.

In Nigeria, the association has over ten thousand members and it has a group of Nigerian professionals from different fields as their members.. Many of these professionals were picked by the United States Embassy and Consulate General in Abuja and Lagos and were sent to the United State for a while to improve their skills and knowledge so that it can be of benefit to their immediate community.

The association has other programs they are involved in which are: the International Visitors Leadership Programme, the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Programme, Mandela Washington Fellowship, Fulbright Junior Scholar Development, Fortune 500 Women, Techwomen, and the Young African Leadership Innovations in Science and Technology[1]

Functions

  • The USGEAA opens door for partnership opportunities for projects and Programs.
  • It helps to promote and facilitate trainings both local and international, they have access to different resource persons and materials which they use to facilitate their training.
  • The association has given a premium attention to empower women, girls and youth leadership.[2]
