Galleria On Third

An artistic journey that is as inspiring as it is unlikely

Unlike most artists who benefit from formal education, followed by a group or shared show and finally/ hopefully land a solo show, the tale of Shadin is nothing like that...

Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Shadin Hossain started his journey to America at the age of 17 to pursue his dream of a better life with more opportunities than he could see possible in his homeland. Due to the age requirements he was rejected, when he finally turned 18 he re-applied and a year later found himself standing in New York City.

Although he viewed drawing as a hobby it was never a goal he strived for. When he first arrived in NY in 1993, he took any job he could get, from a janitor to a pizza delivery boy, as long as he was working in America he felt blessed. One day he stumbled into the Omega Gallery, a Fine Art framing and restoration business in New York City, which turned out to be an unexpected life changing event . There he learned everything he could about fine art framing, restoration, preparation and presentation. At the Omega Gallery, Shadin was able to take his boyhood hobby and turn it into a practical career opportunity.

After five years as an apprentice, in 1999, Shadin opened his own establishment. Partnering with his brother he opened Galleria on Third in the Murray Hill section of New York City specializing in museum quality custom framing, restoration, repair and presentation. Galleria on Third has been in business over 15 years, and maintains one of the best reputations for quality of work and customer service. Shadin has worked with and advised everyone from students and up-and-coming artists to celebrated world renowned artist, from novice collectors to life -long collectors of master works.

After years of advising and framing other artist’s work, Shadin has finally traveled full circle and has returned to his own artistic passion and is creating a unique style that combines pop art sensibility with folk art. Working with a combination of acrylics, epoxies, plastic, paper and most of all an indelible spirit. Shadin’s 3-D collage pieces are gaining the attention of art lovers everywhere and was recently featured on NY1 as the New Yorker of the Week this past August 2011 . In addition to being a talented artist, Shadin and his Galleria on Third have also been recognized for his philanthropic nature as he hosts Benefit Art Shows throughout the year which caught the attention of the New York Daily News, Art Business News and Décor Magazine. The proceeds of these charity events have benefited a variety of organizations with a focus on helping needy children including partnerships with World Vision and Smile Train.
