Promise[edit]

I promise that from now on I will not vandalise Wikipedia. I will make constructive edits whenever I can. I understand I have done silly edits in the past, but it's not funny anymore. Wikipedia is a great resource!

Welcome to my User Page[edit]

It's me, it's me, it's Shane91c!

I am relatively new to Wikipedia editing, but I have had some experience. I am a 18 year old male studying at Darlington College. I will try to help whenever I can. That is all I have to say right now ;)

I Hate Text-Based Formats (That includes XML, HTTP, SMTP etc.)[edit]

I hate Text-Based file and protocol formats. I don't see why computers should be made to parse the text-based format just because they can. Programs would "load settings" way faster if the settings were compiled into a simple binary format.

IM programs that use binary protocols (like Skype) are more secure than ones that use Text-Based protocols (MSN, Jabber etc.) because the data can be obscured or even encrypted, and it doesn't need "parsing" in the sense that XML, HTTP etc. need to be.

And what's all this crap like "Ooh XML is so great because it can be extended!" Well I have news for you. SO CAN FREAKIN' RIFF FILES! And if RIFF ain't good enough then programs could use a slightly different binary format, perhaps with 8-byte name tags as 64-bit integers.

Anyone who agrees please sign my talk page :)
