The real world
I know, its amazing, but I do sometimes try to have a life outside of Wikipedia. I'm a geek by trade, so its no surprise I ended up here. I consult for local companies, so I have a lot of flexibility -- I'm such a spontaneous person I couldn't live with out it. I'm married with four children, two dogs and tons and tons of cats. That's me and one of my parent's dogs -- I had a lot of different animals growing up which is probably why I work with them so much now. My mother was always scared to death that one of the many squirrels, raccoons or birds I was helping was going to attack and kill me; I encourage my kids to respect animals and other people -- they assist in my work and even have their own squirrel buddy, we call him Bob.
All the cats
This little guy is Moe -- someone dumped him and a bunch of brothers and sisters on the side of the road when he was just a couple of days old; they were very lucky that someone found them and brought them to us before something happened. I run a cat rescue just for babies like this. We save hundreds of cats a year that have been abandoned or abused; occasionally we rehabilitate feral cats, but these cases often take months. Moe and his buddies found homes very quickly, they're young and really cute; some of the older cats aren't quite so lucky and can be with us for years before the right person finds them.

I adamantly oppose declawing and other cosmetic surgery for animals and would really like to see all the people who abandon pets get tossed out of their homes to see how it feels. I also adamantly oppose breed-specific legislation; it gives a false sense of security and I think we should know by now that discrimination never solves anything.

  • Until he extends his circle of compassion to include all living things, man will not himself find peace. - Albert Schweitzer
  • There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats. - Albert Schweitzer
  • It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination. - Douglas Adams
  • I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. and its corollary I'd far rather be happy than right any day. - Douglas Adams
  • There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened. - Douglas Adams
  • In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. - Douglas Adams
  • Please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let's not bicker and argue over who killed who. - Monty Python and the Holy Grail
  • Help! Help! I'm being repressed! - Monty Python and the Holy Grail
