Aim & Scope

[edit]

Front. Biol. provides a forum for a broad range of invited and unsolicited high quality critical review papers, in English, on the latest advances in all areas of biology in order to promote rapid communication and the exchange of ideas among biologists all around the world. Front. Biol. also publishes, from time to time, original scientific research, short communications, selected topics, timely reviews, mini-review covering the latest aspects of genomics, proteomics, neurobiology, genetics, cell and developmental biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, medical biology, microbiology, immunology, and plant sciences[1].

Peer review

[edit]

Front. Biol. has a rigorous peer review process, which is fulfilled online. 1) Manuscript is submitted to the editorial office through the online submission system http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/fib. 2) Scientific Editor checks and passes the manuscript to the Associate Editor-in-Chief (AEIC). 3) The AEIC assigns the manuscript to a Section Editor(SE) after reviewing. 4) The SE selects and invites two or three reviewers after reviewing the manuscript. Reviewers review the manuscript and provide comments. 5) The SE recommends his decision to AEIC based on the reviewers’ comments. 6) AEIC recommends his decision to Editor-in-Chief(EIC) based on the reviewers’ comments and the SE’s recommendation. 7) EIC makes the final decision based on the AEIC’s and SE’s recommendations and the reviewers’ comments. 8) AEIC informs the author of the decision. 9) The author revises the manuscript and gives a point-by-point response to reviewers’ comments, and re-submits the revised version to the AEIC. 10) If the manuscript is major revision, the AEIC will send it to the SE again, and repeats the above 4,5,6,7,8 processes. 11) If the manuscript is minor revision, the AEIC will directly make his decision and forward to the EIC, and the EIC makes the final decision[2].
