Goldbug Motion Picture Services is a service company located in and around Atlanta, Georgia that provides craft service, catering and mobile coffee service the motion picture, television and commercial industry. The company is known by its logo of a golden scarab on a black field.
History
[edit]Goldbug Motion Picture Services was created from the consolidation of Goldbug Craft Service and Goldbug Avenue Catering. The company was founded by David Michael Brown and named after the street he grew up on in Sullivan's Island, South Carolina. The company name is in reference to the short story "The Gold Bug", written by American poet and author, Edgar Allan Poe. Brown relocated his business to the Baltimore area and worked for several years on a variety of projects before returning to South Carolina for a short time. In 2008, Brown relocated, again, to the Atlanta area at about the same time that the state of Georgia began offering film incentives to productions who would come and film in the state. He rebranded the company Goldbug Motion Picture Services in 2010 upon setting up the office in Georgia.
