Neek Bucks[edit]
Unique Herbert (born on August 11, 1994) better known as stage name, Neek Bucks is a Songwriter and Rapper, he grew up in the streets of East Harlemin the Wagner Homes. The region is a high poverty area where youth are often involved in gangs and gang violence. Despite the influence of gangs and violence at a young age, Neek Bucks is currently pursuing a career in the Hip Hop Music Instudry. As being one of Harlem's most promising rappers and an uprising star Neek Bucks is involved with artists Dave East and Juelz Santana for the past few years now, as being the biggest jump in his rap career. He grew up idolizing artist such as 50 Cent and DipSet while lyrically and vocally being compared to artist such as Meek Mill and Big L. As Neek Bucks stated in an interview with XXL Magazine, "I want to bring bars back; bring real New York [music] back, but in a young way. I wanna bring the culture back"[1]. Pursuing a fantasy of becoming the next Jay-Z, Neek Bucks and his fanbase believe his peak is soon to come and will soon be one of America's top rising hip-hop artist in achieving his dream of being a rapper.
Early Life[edit]
Neek Bucks was born in the rugged streets of East Harlem, known to have a high crime rate community with numerous social issues including gang involvement and violence. The region is known to be made up of less fortunate people who usually do not maintain a modern lifestyle. As starting his rap career at the age of 15 Neek Bucks experienced a rough upbringing and pursued music to keep the right state of mind. He believed that education was valuable to learn, and both sides of the field, street knowledge and book knowledge were important; once he achieved a well understanding of both, he believed in himself to be special. As growing up just Neek and his single mother, his household was often split up and not in wealthiest situations. Neek decided to roam the streets of East Harlem and become involved in drug trafficking a use for income to provide stability in his family and his mother would often work 2 jobs to provide for basic necessities. As Neek Bucks completed his high school education as a way of saying thank you to God and his mother, he was arrested and involved with gang violence at an early stage in his life.[2] He got involved with the East Coast Bloods as evidenced by him often wearing two colour red on his clothing and flashing red flags in his music videos.
Personal Life[edit]
As Neek Bucks was heavily influenced with his gang, East Coast Bloods, he was involved in many gang violence actions with the use of firearms and weapons often leading to a murder scene. In 2011, at the annual Brooklyn-Queens Day celebration in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, a dispute arose between two groups causing in the involvement of firearms resulting in the killing of a 16-year-old girl, wounded citizens[3]. During the attack, Neek Bucks was grazed by a bullet and fled the scene and describes it as to XXL Magazine "We got into a situation that didn't really involve us. Shots got fired, a girl was killed and two other people got hit; and then I got hit in the head. I thought I was grazed so I didn't even go to the hospital. I just went home and took care of myself" [4]. After 3 years of the bullet grazing Neek's head, he was told there were metal scraps from the bullet that pierced him. As the injury never stopped him from anything, he used it as motivation with morality and it inspired him to pursue his music career with more passion and integrity. As a flashback to the near-death incident, in his "Here For a Reason" EP the cover photo is the actual X-rays with shrapnel in his head.
Career[edit]
Neek Bucks decided to take part and become involved in the Hip-Hop music industry at the age of 15 when he used to use music as a way of expressing his thoughts and storytelling. He went viral after he released his songs "Everybody", "I Lost It" Freestyle and "Too Much". Neek Bucks flow and music gained the attention of many mainstream artists such as Cory Gunz, Tim Vocals who share a similar interest in creating music. His biggest accomplishment was collaborating with artists Dave East and Riche in the song "Rozay" by Neek Bucks, which is the most played on Neek's Youtube channel with 861,000 views. [5] Although he preached the interest of various recon labels over the course of this career he has opted to remain as an independent artist. Neek said to XXL Magazine "I'll be making a lot more visuals for myself and directing for some other artists and of course I'll keep recording music ... I'm building up my merchandise line and also getting into the independent film world. Overall I'm spending my time trying to be the best artist and entrepreneur I can be" [6]. With the support of his fanbase, he released a clothing line called, "Neeks Bucks" selling clothing such as t-shirts, sweaters, backpacks, along with vinyl and more. On January 22, 2018, Neek Bucks released his debut album El Barrio, with songs "Commission", "No Questions", "How Its Supose to Be", "Still Cry" And four others with features including, Dave East, Cory Gunz, Vino World and a few more.

Neek Bucks first caught the attention of viewers after his release "Here For A Reason" with over 500,000 plays worldwide across all platforms. Soon after, with the overwhelming support of other artists and the community he grasped the attention to, he released "Here For A Reason II" the year after and recently released his debut album "El Barrio" at the beginning of 2018. With over 83,000 monthly listeners on Spotify [7], Neek Bucks mostly has followers in, Atlanta, Brooklyn, Chicago and Toronto. Neek Bucks is most famous for his latest release "Energy" featuring Lil Durk, "Beat the Odds" and "One Day" featuring YFN Lucci. With over 2,500,000 plays across all platforms and songs, Neek Bucks believes his breakthrough year is up and coming and the 2019 takeover will be a success. By already appearing on singles from Steve_Pimpin and Red Cafe, Neek is ready to battle through 2019 and is striving to become America's top-selling artist.
