Matt Windman is chief theater critic of the amNewYork[1] , a free daily New York City newspaper, with a daily print circulation in excess of 315,000 copies. [2] The publication is rated the most-read newspaper of 18- to 35-year-olds in New York City with the largest circulation of any paid or unpaid daily newspaper in Manhattan. [3]

Early Life[edit]

Windman grew up in Marlboro Township, New Jersey, and attended French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts[4] in Hancock, NY. He received his Bachelors degree in Journalism and Dramatic Literature from New York University[5].

Career[edit]

Mr. Windman first joined amNewYork in 2004 as a writer and became the paper's sole theater critic in July 2005. Windman's reviews[6] are known for there brash and satirical style, but honest and objective position.[7] Considered an expert by his peers,[8][9][10][11] Mr. Windman predicted the highest number of Tony Awards of any journalist on Gold Derby in 2008[12].

In addition, Windman writes an official theater blog of Broadway and Off-Broadway news and reviews[13], theater interviews a weekly theater column, and performs streaming audio podcasts.[14] Recent interviews have included playwright David Greenspan, playwright Paul Rudnick, actress Andrea McArdle, and composer William Finn, along with numerous reviews published by Newsday - Baltimore Sun and Chicago Tribune [15]
