Pre-MMA Evan Shoman was born in New York in 1973. At the age of 11 he moved out to San Diego, California with his family. Never interested in reading or studying, Evan focused his interests towards art. He decided after he graduated high school that he would pursue a degree in art. During college Evan was discouraged by a professor who told him everything he did was "wrong" and gave up his passion, doing pencil portraits. After 2 years of inactivity another professor, who taught differently than the previous professor did, encouraged Evan to get back in the saddle. From then on, he has been doing his portraits. Evan graduated from San Diego State University in 1997 and earned a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design.

Art After college Evan toyed around with his drawings and mainly drew NBA or NFL players but never really showed his drawings. Since UFC 1 Evan was a fan. He followed the sport until it was banned in the United States. In 2001 Evan was offered the opportunity to do designs for "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock. The designs were for Shamrock's fight with Don Frye at Pride 19: Bad Blood. Evan jumped at the opportunity and wound up doing the graphics for Ken's fight shorts as well as his corner-men's shirts. After that Evan remained a fan of mma and in 2004 posted his first mma drawing in a fight forum. The response was so positive that he decided to only focus his talents on mma portraits.

Currently Since that time Evan has been approached by some of the greatest mixed martial artists in the world. He has worked with champions like Chuck Liddell, Rampage Jackson, Tim Sylvia, Rich Franklin, Josh Barnett, and Dan Henderson. He also has worked along side some of the rising stars in the sport in Kendall Grove, Ed Herman, Mike Swick, Clay Guida, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, Dean Lister, Nate Quarry, Cub Swanson and Tyson Griffin. Evan has been acknowledged by many as the best mma artist in the world and he has no plans of slowing down.
