CanSupport is an Indian organization focused on supporting Cancer patients. It is North India's largest home-based palliative care provider.[1] Founded by Harmala Gupta in 1996, they aim to serve people suffering from cancer through their wide ranging programs -home care, outpatient clinics, helplines, peer support group and day care centers.[2] All services of the NGO are free of charge. Dr Ambika Rajvanshi is the CEO of CanSupport.

Under the Home-Care program teams of doctors, nurses and counselors provide care to 3,000 patients through 28 teams across North India.[3]

Day Care program aims to provide supportive care to patients undergoing treatment. Age-appropriate alternative healing practices are offered that aid the patients and their caregivers with the illness. Activities like dance, laughter therapy, sound therapy, art and craft, music, meditation, games and out door outings help them manage the challenges better.[4]

About the Founder[edit]

Harmala Gupta founded CanSupport in 1996 after her own battle with cancer. While working on her Ph.D. thesis in McGill University, Montreal, Canada, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system.[5] Her experience with Hodgkin's lymphoma inspired her to establish CanSupport and dedicate herself to improving cancer care and support services in India. [6]
