Dinosaur Fossil Park, Raiyoli,Balasinor(Guj.)

  Did you know that a small town Village Called Raiyoli Near Small Town Balasinor in Gujarat is home to the one of the largest dinosaur fossils sites in the world.

  At Balasinor, there’s a fossilised dinosaur nesting ground and a prehistoric burial ground. But, no one knows because no one talks about it. Moreover, no one thought that this could be developed as a tourist site or say a UNESCO Geo park

 Paleontologists believe that nearly seven species of dinosaurs lived here. In fact, researchers have uncovered fossils of about 10,000 dinosaur eggs, making Raiyoli village in Balasinor the third largest hatchery in the world.

 Previously in 2003, they also discovered a new species here, which belonged to the Tyrannosaurus Rex family. It was named Rajasaurus narmandensis which means a princely reptile from the Narmada.

 This site was discovered accidentally in 1981, when geologists were conducting a mineral survey of the area. Since then, this place has attracted scientists and tourists from around the world.

History

 Welcome to a tiny world of the extinct creature, dinosaurs in Balasinor, Gujarat. This otherwise small, sleepy and laid back historical town is one of the largest reservoirs of dinosaur fossils in the world. The fossil park is located in Raiyoli Village and has been developed by Gujarat Tourism and is continuously being maintained and protected from hazards. It contains eggs, bones and remains of Dinosaurs, which when seen can redirect one to state of awe. The Balanisor Dinosaur Fossil Park though boasts itself as one of the largest dinosaur egg hatcheries in the world, yet is unknown and undiscovered by many travel enthusiasts.

 Paleontologists from GSI walked across the bones of an undiscovered species and came to a conclusion to name the partial skeletons of the undiscovered species as ‘regal dinosaur from the Narmada’. It is advisable to proceed for a guided tour to Balasinor Dinosaur fossil park as an amateur might miss its interesting aspects. Unfortunately, Balasinor is termed as an 'ignored wealth' because its popularity contributed by such extinct creature as well as princely past has not attained global acclaim.
