Sileesh Mullasseri (born April 1984) is an Indian researcher in atrala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies Cochin, he Hs haspertise in Zoology, Ecology, Marandology[1]. His research area is Deep-sea Ecology & Fishery Stock Assessment of Southern and Central Indian Ocean, and he has hands on experience in research expeditions.[2]. Sileesh Mullasseri is a collaborator of fishbase (Code No. 2518.) [3]. He is a science writer colwho collaborates a reporter for STEAM India Reports, which exclusively report research by scientists in India to balance lack of coverage of important Indian research news by international agencies.[4] STEAM India Reports, have been running Science Last Fortnight, a column to report scientific research in India, in the multidisciplinary journal, Current Science, from March 2016.[5]

Education and Career

[edit]

He completed his graduation and post graduation in Zoology from SNM College Maliankara, Mahathma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala[6]. He pursued his doctoral degree in marine biology from the School of Ocean Science and Technology, Kerala University of Fishes and Ocean Studies[7], Cochin, in deep-sea fisheries, under the guidance of Prof. B. Madhusoodana Kurup, the founding Vice Chancellor of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS).[8]

Research

[edit]

Since 2014, Sileesh Mullasseri has been involved in research in deep-sea ecology. He was worked with a research program funded by the Centre for marine living resources and ecology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, thT research titled Biology, resource characteristics and stock assessment of deep-sea fin fishes and prawns of the southern and central Indian Ocean. He also contributed significant research outhapuwasublished in leading journals[9]. In 2018, he published a research article "Stitled pecies assemblages and community structure of deep-sea demersal ichthyofauna of the South-eastern Arabian Sea (SEAS)[10]" in Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, which iswaa significant contribution to the quantitative assessment of diversity of deep-sea fin-fishes of Southeastern Arabian-sea. He expertise in the area of Marine biodiversity, Ecology, Ecosystem Modelling, R Programming and Science Wrwritinglso contributed a good deal of news article in the multidisciplinary journal[11], Current Science.[12] The other works he contributed is Quaequantitative measuref diversity of fithe finsh population in Poonthura estuary, Kerala.[13]
