Amphimachairodus tingii is considered a junior synonym of Amphimachairodus horribilis. Amphimachairodus giganteus, Amphimachairodus palanderi, Amphimachairodus horribilis, Amphimachairodus colorandensis, Amphimachairodus alvarezi, and Amphimachairodus kabir are included as valid species. Epimachairodus fires is noted as similar to Amphimachairodus palanderi.[27]
- 2023b: Amphimachairodus hezhengensis is described. Amphimachairodus giganteus, Amphimachairodus palanderi, Amphimachairodus horribilis, Amphimachairodus coloradensis, Amphimachairodus alvarezi, and "Adeilosmilus" kabir are noted as valid species.[28]
