Article from AIDS LIST Assignment

The article I read was about Diamanda Galas and I think it needs some expansion in some areas. I plan on adding information to the Background and Education section and to the AIDS activism section. I plan on discussing the types of Greek and Arabic style music she would play. I also plan on discussing how her role in ACTUP (AIDS activism group) impacted her career and how it influenced her style of music. Side note, adding a section to describe her music would be cool because her music is not easy to understand without proper guidence.

Addition to Diamanda Galas (AIDS article)

I added a few sentences to the Background and Education section as well as editing the AIDS activism section. In the Background section I added the types of music she would play as a young artist and how her father influenced her artistic side as a child. I also added a hyperlinks to the AIDS activism section. Adding from Plague List Assignnment

I will be adding to the History of Chinese Americans in San Francisco article. I read the article and while I believe it has some strong very points, there are some missing things. I will be adding some citations to the lead section in the beginning and in the history section. Also, in the 'History' section, I will be expanding on the diseases from the oceanic voyage for men and women.

History of Chinese Americans in SF Draft Article After reading this article, I learned a lot of information that I did not know before but I do believe it is missing a lot of citations to authenticate the material. The information I plan on adding to improve the article are below:

As of 2012, 21.4% of the population in San Francisco was of Chinese descent, and at least 150,000 Chinese American residents .

The area was the one geographical region deeded by the city government and private property owners which allowed Chinese persons to inherit and inhabit dwellings within the city. The majority of these Chinese shopkeepers, restaurant owners, and hired workers in San Francisco Chinatown were predominantly Hoisanese and male .

Although the oceanic voyage to the United States offered new and exciting opportunities, dangers also loomed for women while traveling and many were discouraged from making the trip due to the harsh living conditions accompanying the long and arduous journey.

• Oceanic voyages with Chinese immigrants boarded the Pacific Mail Steamship Company and Canadian Pacific Steamship Company. Chinese immgrants would have to ride in the steerage where food was stored. Many were given rice bowls to eat during the voyage. In 1892, a federal law passed to ensure immgrants who were on board, needed a certificate. Due to tight arrangements, unhygenic situations and scarcity in food, this led to health degradation.

Addition to Plague Article

I added a subsection under the History section relating to the Oceanic Voyages of Chinese immigrants. Many people do not account for this contributing to the Plague so I decided to expand more on it and show how it negatively impacted the health of Chinese immigrants.
