Tania Fisher (born Tania Piscioneri; January 20, 1973) is an Italian-Australian actor/writer known mostly for guest starring roles on Australian TV series and Australian TV commercials

Early Life[edit]

Fisher is of Italian descent, born Tania Piscioneri on January 20 1973 in Adelaide, South Australia.

Fisher attended her local neighborhood public primary schools until one of her teacher’s recognized her high IQ and contacted her parents to encourage them to send her to a private school. Fisher attended the prestigious all-girls private school, Wilderness in the affluent suburb of Medindie, South Australia from the age of 10 until her graduation, where she excelled in Drama and English, breaking school records for prizes received. She was popularly known as the actress of the school, taking the lead role in every production and winning numerous school awards.

Career[edit]

Fisher was drawn to Shakespeare at the age of eight when she began reading and collecting his works. She was a published poet at the age of 10, and she began her professional voice-over career at the age of 15, narrating a TV Commercial for The Australian Dental Association.

By age 20 she began working as an extra on feature films and lead roles in theatrical productions. Later she gained featured roles, appearing on Australian TV show Gladrags (1995) and feature film Harry Dare (1995) both filmed in her home town of Adelaide, South Australia.

Fisher moved to Melbourne, Australia, in 2001 to enhance her acting career. She attended the Cannes Film Festival as actress and producer in 2003 and again in 2004, receiving the UK’s Asian News Week Award for independent feature film Parallels (2004) which she co-produced.

Fisher remained a familiar sight on Australian Television Commercials as well as guest starring in the popular TV Series Secret Life of Us (2004).

Fisher lived and worked as both an actress and voice over artist in the UK between 2004 to 2006 starring as Linda in The Garrick Theater production of Kafka’s Dick (2005/6) by Alan Bennett.

Fisher returned to Australia in 2006 and continued to appear in Australian TV commercials, TV series, and notably as Anita Katz in the iconic Australian TV Soap Drama, Neighbours (2008), as well as feature film Purge (2010) before she relocated to New York City in 2012. Since living in New York City she has starred in various theater productions, and worked behind the scenes in both theater and film. She is currently a dramaturge, theater reviewer, freelance author of inside-industry articles, and author of children’s books.

Personal Life[edit]

Was previously married to Greg Tassotti 1996-1998 (divorced) who is the cousin of Italian manager and former soccer player Mauro Tassotti. Second partner Trevor Cologne (2001-2002) committed suicide shortly after she ended their relationship.

In 1998 was diagnosed with rare fatal lung disease, Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis and has undergone 27 lung procedures.
