Dr C. Satheesh Kumar is presently working as the Head of the Department of Statistics, University of Kerala, Trivandrum, India. He got his Ph.D. in statistics from the Statistics Department at University of Kerala, Kerala in 1998. He worked as a Research Head in The Mathrubhumi Ptg. Pbg. Co. Ltd. Calicut-673 001 [a leading newspaper industry in India] during 1997 to 2000. Then, he worked as Lecturer in Statistics at NAM College, Kannur University (2000-2003), Lecturer/Lecturer (Sr. Scale) (2003-2009), and Reader/ Associate Professor (2009-) in Dept. of Statistics, University of Kerala. He is the Joint Secretary of Indian Society for Probability and Statistics (ISPS), Member of the Standardization Committee of Statisticians in connection with the Reforms to Engineering Entrance Examination (2012 onwards), Expert Group Member for examining the issues related to the estimation of State Income (Govt. of Kerala), Member in the Standardization Committee of Statisticians in connection with the Standardization of the difficulty levels of various examinations, conducted by Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) (2012 onwards), Member of the Governing Council of the Centre for Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (2010 onwards), Member of the Mathematical and Statistical Sciences Trust of the Centre for Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (2011 onwards), Member of the Expert Technical Advisory Committee in Kerala State Electricity Board Ltd. (KSEBL) for the implementation of the cloud seeding programme,Senate Member of Kerala University, Member, Academic Council of Kerala University, Board of Studies Chairman in Statistics (PG) as well as Board of Studies Member Demography (PG) of Kerala University, Statistics (PG) of Bharathyar University, M.S. The paper published in Metrika won the Professor R. N. Pillai Best Paper Award, 2010 of AADSUK. Also, the paper appeared in the journal Statistics and Probability Letters(Published from USA) in Vol. 81, Pages 1813-1821 (2011) had been ranked as 9-th in the top 20 most downloaded articles in the journal during October December 2011. Online publication VERTICAL NEWS made a report entitled Recent Findings in Statistics described by Researchers from University of Kerala about the advancement made in the area of statistics by the publication of the my paper jointly with Ms. M.R. Anusree, which appeared in the journal Statistics and Probability Letters (Published from USA) [Vol. 81, Page: 1813-1821, 2011]. Another paper published in the Journal Economical Quality Control [28(2), 97-104, 2014] is listed in the group of the most 20 downloaded articles of that journal during 2014.
