Difference between HUB and SWITCH HUB: HUB is an layer1 device that allows collision of data. Speed of HUB is 10Mbps. HUB will not follow any tables to send and receive package. HUB are available at 4,8,12,16 and 24 ports. Maximum machines that can be connected using a single HUB is 24 machines. SWITCH: SWITCH is layer2 device that avoids collision of data. Speed of SWITCH is 100Mbps.It follows MAC table to send and recieve the data.THey are available at 4,8,12,16,24,48 and 64. Maximum machines that can be conneccted using a single SWITCH is 64. COst of SWITCH is high .
