The building of layers to create a foundation of permanence: Hands that caress an object for show and tell; textures of layers create a foundation of permanence. Painting professionally for over 15 years, Najera's studio inhabits a 1920's Spanish revival building in the historical Bankers Hill area of San Diego. All paintings are developed as stories of the artist's life, overlaid with influences of current inspirations focusing on specific projects. Marie Najera incorporates new languages and vocabularies as they pertain to current emotions and experiences. She began painting about her mother, which opened a rabbit hole into her own life, as she became an artist, and adult, and a mother herself. Nesting, normalcy, and unassuming objects portray an every day life lived[1].
