"Speedie John" is a nickname used by Los Angeles based musician, John Carlucci. The name comes from his association as bassist with the 1970's era Power Pop Band, "The Speedies"

Speedie John Carlucci grew up in Queens NY & attended Newtown High School. It was the same High School that was once attended by Sylvain Sylvain, Arthur Kane & Johnny Thunders of the NY Dolls. He began playing bass in the early 1970's and began hanging around the early NY Punk scene of Max's Kansas City/ C.B.G.B's. His first band, The Dropowts featured the original Manic Panic Girls, Tish & Snooky on vocals. This band morphed into The Accidents, which featured John on bass, Wes Beech on guitar (later of The Plasmatics)Arthur McGukin on drums (later of The Misfits)Tommy Cookman on Vocals (later of The Colors and the founder of "Nacional Records")

In 1978 John joined The Speedies. The Speedies released two 45's on the indie label, Golden Disc records. The first of which, "Let Me take Your Foto" was produced by Joel Webber, the founder of the new Music Seminar. Their second single "Something On My Mind" was produced by Clem Burke from Blondie.'In 2005, The Speedies song "Let Me Take Your Foto" was used in a nationwide TV commercial for Hewlett Packard. The interest in the commercial sparked Radio Heartbeat records to release a long lost Speedies lp called "Speedy Delivery". In 2007 the band did a re-union show at South paw in Brooklyn.

In the early 1980's John moved to Los Angeles California & played with Los Angeles Punk Rock singer, Rik L Rik, before joining The Fuzztones. The Fuzztones signed to RCA when John was in the band. They released 1 LP on RCA called "IN Heat" It was produced by Shel Talmy, who had produced the Who, The Kinks & The Creation. They released a few EP's & singles on the "Situation Two" label in the UK & toured Europe extensively in the late 1980's.

Speedie John is still involved in Music. Currently he place bass in the Los Angeles Based Garage Punk Band, The Beat Killers. The have one CD out called " Beat, Broken Bruised" on the Purple Claw label.
