Richer Unsigned was set up by Julian Richer in association with Q magazine in 2014 as a not for profit company with the aim of supporting all musicians who may be just getting started, have been in the industry a while or simply don’t have a great label deal.[1]The company is based in London, is financed as a not for profit by Julian Richer of Richer Sounds and has five employees. The project is open to all musicians making original music in the UK.

The site www.RicherUnsigned.com hosts a monthly competition where bands upload a track and encourage their friends and fans to vote and submit reviews. Prizes include studio time, exposure to the one million-subscriber Richer Sounds mailing list, exposure through Q Magazine and Qthemusic.com.

Richer Unsigned hosts a quarterly showcase for five artists, selected by Q Magazine from entries in the Richer Unsigned chart. These five artists then perform to a music industry audience at the Pizza Express Pheasantry in Chelsea. The artists are reviewed by Q Magazine and also appear on Qthemusic.com.[2]

In June 2014 Sennheiser became a partner on the project, which meant certain bands and artists could record at their Sennheiser Sound Lab as well as offering advice and a number of give-aways to artists.
