Michael Kara-oolovich Oyun (TUV. Michael Kara-ool oglu Oyun; b. May 17, 1980, Kyzyl, Tuva ASSR) — Russian athlete in archery, won the bronze medal at the Paralympics-2012

Tuvan by nationality. Involved in archery since he was 13. M. K. Oyun graduated from the school of Olympic reserve, works as a Director of the sports center of the village of Bai Haak Tandinsky district.

Early years[edit]

Mikhail Kara-oolovich Oyun was born on may 17, 1980 in Kyzyl, the capital of the Tuvan ASSR. Archery began to learn when his parents moved to the village of Durgen Tandinsky district of Tuva ASSR. At that time, there was opened a section on archery, in which started to work,famous in Tuva, in this sport-coaches Evgeny Victorovich and Raisa Tutatchikova.

Career[edit]

In 1993, at the age of 13, out of interest he came to classes in the section on archery .On a test run coach Raisa Tutatchikova noted physical preparation of Michael and invited him to classes in a group of beginners. Peers who came to the section before him, at this time already shot from professional bows. The sport excitement made him to catch up with them in scoring. First, he took part in the national archery competitions, and since 1995 he has already won prizes in various competitions at the regional and national levels. The winner of superiority of Russia among young men 1995 and superiority of Russia among juniors of 1997.

By the end of the ninth grade Michael Oyun decided to link his life with professional sports and entered the School of Olympic reserve, after which he received a diploma of coach-teacher. In 2007 began working as a physical education teacher in the village Balgazyn Tandinsky district. In 2008 he opened in Balgazyn section on archery for kids. Since 2008 began to work as the trainer-teacher of DYUSSH of the village of Bay-Khaak Tandinsky district. At the same time, he continued to take part in competitions at various levels.

The transition in Paralympic sport and continue his career[edit]

In 2009, Mikhail Oyun received a disability after damaging his right leg in car accident. During the year, the athlete learned to walk again, developing a damaged leg. According to Mikhail Oyun, nothing has changed in his life with disability, he often takes part in sports camps and competitions together with healthy athletes.

In 2009, Mikhail Oyun took first place in the Winter Championship of the Republic of Tatarstan in archery. In March 2010, he took II place in the final of the Russian archery Championship (classic bow), III place in the Russian archery Cup, II place in the short-distance exercises at the Russian archery Championship in class ST, I place in the Russian Cup in archery among persons with the defeat of the ODE in the final among men of class ST, I place in the Russian Cup in archery among persons with the defeat of the ODE in the short-distance exercise. In may 2010, Mikhail Oyun took II place in the championship of Tatarstan in archery. In July 2010, the team of the Republic of Tuva, which included Mikhail Oyun, took II place in the Championship of Russia in classic archery among men.  In 2010 he won the European championship among persons with the defeat of the musculoskeletal system in the personal and team standings.

In July 2011, Mikhail Oyun won the world championship in archery among athletes with a defeat of the musculoskeletal system in Turin, Italy, which was the qualifying for participation in the summer Paralympic games in London in 2012. The Russian team, which included Mikhail Oyun, Archer from Buryatia Timur Tuchinov and Mikhail Shestakov from Krasnodar region, beat the favorites of the South Korea in the final of the men's team tournament with a score of 217:207, and this gave him a chance to participate in Paralympic games in 2012 in London. Mikhail Oyun was awarded the title of Master of sports of international class.

On September 3, 2012, in individual competitions in classical archery (men standing), Russian athletes won all the prizes of the Paralympics: gold – Timur Tuchinov, silver – Oleg Shestakov, bronze – Mikhail Oyun. The Tuvan athlete beat the American Eric Bennett – 6:0. In the final of the team championship, the Russian team defeated the South Korean team with a score of 206:200, getting the gold of the Paralympics.
