Athirathram is considered as the ultimate invocation of Vedic Scriptures for Universal harmony. It is the oldest surviving Vedic ritual in the world. The ritual invokes Vedic mantras to usher in universal harmony and to cleanse the atmosphere; keeps up the balance of environment which we are destroying ourselves; keeps far away the poisonous air that releases from so many factories and reactors; removes evil thoughts and elements (MRIGA THRUSHNA- ANIMAL INSTINCT) from human beings minds; According to ancient texts on the yagna, any offering to fire as a God is actually an offering to the Sun. Such offerings cleanse the environment of all negative energies and protect it too. Ascribing divine attributes to these rituals induces people to practice them. Our scriptures proclaim that such Vaidika karmams are result-oriented, and are meant to lead to shreyas or spiritual attainment. ATHIRATHRAM is now being revived in a grand public event by "SAMATHA LOKSEVA SAMITHI"(Regd. Trust Vide Regn. No. B-IV/142/07 dated 12.07.2007) and will be conducted at YETAPAKA village, just 3KM away from famous Bhadradri Rama Swami temple, for the first time in the recent centurys' history of Telugu speaking areas, in April 2012 i.e. from Saturday the 21st April, 2012 to Wednesday the 2nd May, 2012 (12 days); Brahmasri "NADUVAM NARAYANAN SOMAYAJIPAD" will perform the "ATHIRATHRAM" with their team.
