Jefferson National (JeffNat) is a financial services company based in Louisville, Kentucky that specializes in managing annuities.
History[edit]
Jefferson National's predecessor company was originally founded in 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1998 the company was purchased by Conseco, and was renamed Conseco Variable Insurance Company. The company was purchased from Conseco in October 2002 with backing from Trimaran Capital Partners. Following the acquisition, the Jefferson National name was restored.
In 2005, Jefferson National was the first company to offer a no-load flat-fee investment-only variable annuity.
In January 2012 the company announced the successful completion of a management buyout led by Financial Partners Fund ("FPF"), a unit of Citi Capital Advisors, The Stephens Group, and Eric Schwartz, a private investor.
The company's Monument Advisor product has been ranked one of Barron's Top 50 Annuities for two consecutive years (2013 and 2014), and named Barron's top VA with alternatives (2014). The company is winner of over 45 industry awards, including DMA Financial Services Company of the Year.
