The presentation went viral in that same month and year with notable blogs such as Art Fag and The Volokh Conspiracy and unverified claims stating the presentation was "all over Wall Street".

The presentation found online is an edited version of the original created by Eddie Johnson for a final project in his economics research class at Washington University in St. Louis. The original presentation is titled The Subprime Primer and contains three more slides including a title slide and two slides with apocalyptic-like economic and financial predictions.
