Hi Information Seekers: My background is in psychology and sociology studied at University with an English minor. I tried law for one year and decided Real Property law was my favourite subject so began practicing as a Sales Representative in the Real Estate industry. For many years I have lived in the very center of Toronto (spent many disco nights in Yorkville with my friend Barbara at the "KiKi" after-hours club) between high school and university when the main street of Yorkville was still cafes and nightclubs for the hippy generation. My elegant Afghan hound "Remy" and I used to frequent the cafes which were sometimes dense with smoke and funny smelling cigarettes. At this age,I always enjoyed and was sometimes intimidated by the "mystique" of the Village nightlife. Once married, my husband Stanley and I used to dress for the occasion, doing the shops and cafes in style as the area matured and grew. Now it is really very high class with the new Hazelton Hotel with its very posh outdoor cafe and clientele and the Four Seasons condos being built at the corner of Yorkville and Bay (a new high in price for one of the penthouses - selling for $28 Million). It is for the people who are coming to Toronto - be they celebrities or CEO's or just hard working people who love to take in life - those who need to feel all of the history of people loving being in this area - this hub of activity, full of creativity and excitement and the genuine appreciation of the "best" life can offer - that I have found the Wikipedia version of the background of this village. It is my hope that this retrospective look at how the area has reticulated into becoming one of the most respected areas of Toronto, will give visitors, or those relocating, a first truly positive image of what Toronto has been and is.
