Tim's Work log

[edit]

2.24.2019-The Wikipedia article I chose to edit and contribute towards is "Chicken Sandwich." I am actually very excited for this, because it will give me opportunity to think and write more creatively, which holds my interest much better. The topic I would like to add to this article is gourmet chicken sandwiches featured on television.

3.3.2019- I realized that Chicken Sandwiches featured on television might limit me so I have decided to change it to The Best Chicken Sandwiches in America.

3.17.2019- Thank you for all the feedback. I strengthened my existing stories, scrapped one and added one. I now have 3 strong sources that all work properly and direct you directly to the articles in which I got my information. I also figured out how to add a picture.

3.17.2019- I strengthened my thrillist citation and improved all of my sandwich stories.

3.31.2019- I formatted the look of my article and fixed my citations.

4.7.2019- I added my contributions to the Chicken Sandwich article!

America's Best Chicken Sandwiches

[edit]

Kitson & Co Sandwiches, Toronto, Canada. [1]

2017 Fried Chicken Sandwich of the Year:

[edit]

This crispy chicken sandwich managed to stand above the rest this year according to Bon Appetit. You can find this sandwich in Venice, California at The Great White. Their sandwich is classic and simple, but they have mastered the basics. The chicken is covered with rice flower and fried. They have a home made sauce that is a blend of sweet onion, mayo and champagne vinegar and a home made dill pickle, along with lettuce and brioche all inside a sesame bun. [2]

2017 Saveur's Best Chicken Sandwich:

[edit]

The chicken sandwich Saveur featured above the rest can only be found if you make it yourself with their gourmet recipe. It is called the Roast Chicken Pan Bagnat with Olive Tapenade and Goat Cheese. The chicken and lettuce are sliced thin and the flavors are said to be the best when you let the sandwich rest for a few hours before eating it. [3]

2016 Fried Chicken Sandwich of the Year:

[edit]

Bon Appetit featured this chicken sandwich as the highlight of their quest to find the best chicken sandwich of the year. This one is from Buxton Hall features a barbeque chicken sandwich from Asheville, North Carolina. The chicken is smoked next to pork, drenched in buttermilk and deep fried. The toppings are American and pimento cheese, white barbeque sauce, and pickles all inside a toasted bun. [4]

2015 Rule of the Roost:

[edit]

Thrillist was preoccupied with finding amazing chicken sandwiches in 2015. Featured first on their article is a spicy chicken sandwich from Nashville, Tennessee that you can find at Acme Feed & Seed. The chicken is contained by grilled white bread, and is topped green peppercorn aioli, American cheese, and pickles. [5]

2.27.2019- Looks Great, Tim. I added headings for you! Have you tried Gale Virtual Library at Butte College Library? I'm not sure all these sources will work, but we'll have the WikiEdu techs look at what you draft. Copy and paste the part of the article you want to change/add to in this Sandbox space, with sources for next week, okay?

3.25.2019- Looks really good!  :) You wrote a lot and made this draft better by responding to Jean's ideas! Please use this editing training page to help you embed sources, so they look like this: This crispy chicken sandwich managed to stand above the rest this year according to Bon Appetit. [1] Do that with all the others too. Then you'll be really close to moving this to the main page for Chicken Sandwich. Also, find the source and write a caption for the photo. Thanks!

4.4.2019- Great! Last step is to move your changes to mainspace. Do it by 4.7.2019, okay?

3.12.19 -- Hi Tim! Your Bon Appetit article looks good, but is from 2016. You may want to add this 2017 item to the list: https://www.bonappetit.com/story/best-fried-chicken-sandwich-2017 They don't seem to have done a 'best chicken sandwich' story since then, though. I would call Bon Appetit a solid source for this kind of article.

Now, your two Thrillist links just go to the Thrillist home page and not to any articles, so you need to fix that. Thrillist is crammed with articles about fast food and I'm not sure if your two sandwiches are supposed to be fast food or a step up from that, like the Bon Appetit sandwiches. If I were writing this article, I would probably make a division between best fast food sandwiches and best restaurant sandwiches, if you're planning to put fast food in at all. Thrillist is not nearly as established as Bon Appetit, but it has been doing food/entertainment for 15 years, so it's not a bad source. With all of these, you should make it clear who is doing the judging (with something like "Thrillist called the Korean sandwich from Fred's the best of Chicago in 2018").

Your sources below all go to the homepages and not to specific articles, except for the Bon Appetit one. So, so far you really only have one source. Bon Appetit is the best one; you should look for very established organizations, or food critics within established organizations. You want to avoid people being paid to give good reviews, though, which is where it gets tricky.
