New to editing Wikipedia, but a longtime user, having spent most of my career in the media; also served in the military and have particular interests in the following:
-Current military programs -Future military technologies/systems -Military history -Military and politics -U.S. National Guard programs/history (trivia: National Guard b-day? Dec. 13, 1636) -Humanitarian military missions
-Science fiction, mostly written word -Technologies that USED to exist only in sci-fi (e.g. ion engines) -Scientific possibilities/technologies that sci-fi makes plausible -Those "Huh!" connections between sci-fi and the military (e.g. "Ender's Game" + popular video games + virtual reality trainers and systems currently used or being proposed by the military; SIMNET is a good example)
-U.S. politics, current and historical -The evolution of mass media -Cleveland, Ohio trivia and history -Classical music, particularly of the Romantic time period -Music, artists, history and trivia regarding what I call "crooners", also known as "lounge" or "martini" style, into soft jazz/blues (e.g. Sinatra, Como, Martin, Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Henri Mancini-no, not a singer, but I think you get the drift) -the Catholic Church, and some of it's history (e.g. priests ability to marry, fish on Fridays?, political power during the Dark Ages, current struggles) -Aviation, particularly early history
Just a few of the things I have interest in and a desire to contribute where I can.
I was also a copy editor, so I have an interest in simply "cleaning things up" from redundant statements, unclear sentences, poor punctuation, or -- ESPECIALLY ON WIKIPEDIA -- lack of hyperlinks to extremely (or obviously) relevant topics.
