Off channel

[edit]

Cool - I think it'll be quite hard to keep track of everything, but the more pairs of eyes the better. Probably a good idea to set up some off channel communication (email, MSN mesenger etc) as BLR is clever and will probably watch this page Mammal4 16:24, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Personally, I'm happy with this level of transparency. I just wanted a to set up a centralized forum for any occasion in which multiple editors were involved with a group of socks; the other day while dealing with a particularly vile little neo-Nazi with a herd of socks, I thought it could be useful to have a place where people could ask questions, delegate responsibilities, and maybe consult admins. Usually with sockspuppets, multiple editors get dragged in, and talk pages aren't the best way to communicate with more than two people. Yeah, I'm sure Britton will notice this page, but I don't particularly care. So I'll abstain from off-channel communications, though of course others are free to do otherwise. - Tapir Terrific 12:06, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

IrishGuy and I have both posted responses on the PiedraInglesa talk page. Britton's response can be found here. - Tapir Terrific 19:42, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Unemployed, living in basement, aka Brando(n)03, aka Louisville Vandal

[edit]

Unemployed,_living_in_basement (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is a troll account which was indefinely blocked several weeks ago for repeated vandalism. I was involved in combatting this on RC patrol, including posting warning messages to his talk page, reporting him to WP:AIV, and nominating a garbage page he made for AfD. Since this occurred, he (or some other entity that I believe to be him) has started a pattern of harassment, consisting of:

Could an admin with checkuser priveleges crosscheck the IP of unemployed, and the various imposter accounts, to see if they patch the IP ranges?

--EngineerScotty 05:43, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

List of IP addresses used by this user. The user has a dymamic IP (a fact which he has boasted about at least twice)

Created three additional imposters of User:EngineerScotty on June 21, 2006; though all of them were blocked almost immediately. --EngineerScotty 21:26, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps suffering from delusions of grandeur, impersonated the North Carolina Vandal (creating an account with that name, immediately blocked). --EngineerScotty 05:41, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

The following edit [2] on my talk page, suggests that Unemployed may be the same individual as Brando03 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). Looking at the page history of BabuBhatt (talk · contribs · logs) shows abusive edits from unemployed's IP range, as well as from Brando03. Could checkuser be run on Brando03 to see what IPs he posted from? --EngineerScotty 05:30, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Rather busy from 65.138.68.108 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) today; making crude remarks on numerous user and talk pages. Almost seems to want greater recognition here; must balance reporting of abuse with vandal's seeming desire for attention. Added message to my user page requesting to be blocked; by the time I noticed, had already been. Has referred to itself lately as the Louisville Vandal, the above IPs are all registered to Qwest in Louisville, Kentucky. Occasionally, this user makes constructive edits to Kentucky-related pages. --EngineerScotty 20:22, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Created account Brandon03 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), which was used for vandalism against usual targets. Wrote a biography on his user page (unknown if any is true, other than vandal coming from Louisville area), can be viewed at [3] (the page has since been replaced with a {{indefblock}} message). Rails against "wiki deletionists" and such; though since the vandalism spree began, hasn't been involved in any genuine content disputes; all edits have either been noncontroversial additions or blatant vandalism. --EngineerScotty 05:14, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Posting from 65.138.69.252 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) revealed personal info on two Wikipedia editors (no idea if the info is correct). I won't link to the posts here (they probably should be deleted anyway), was blocked for this. --EngineerScotty 05:13, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Homophobic personal attacks against openly gay user Chris24 (talk · contribs) [4] posted to my talk page; from 4.224.51.242 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log). A different service provider, but also in Louisville; refers to a content dispute (but I didn't notice any contentious edits from Chris24 upon checking his contribs). --EngineerScotty 17:24, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Regularly attacks me with reference to another user--Kungfu Adam (talk) 17:43, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

"The Blasphemy Guy"

[edit]

This peson repeatedly vandalizes the dinosaur article by blanking it and replacing the article with a fundamentalist Christian creed. An example of this can be seen here. They also make personal attacks against people to try and revert his attacks, for example.

He may also hit up on articles relating to Islam.
