Tashi Dorji is Bhutanese. He was born at Thrumshingla
, Bumthang to Mr. Neten and Mrs. Dema. And he is second youngest child of of them among four others (3 elder sisters and 1 young brother). He was originally from Drujegang, Dagana but under new mitshey he is registered under Tsirang District. He had his primary schooling at Autsho Middle Secondary School which was then Community Primary school. After he passed sixth standard he joined Tangmachu Middle Secondary School as a boarding student. There he studied from 7th to 10th standard. Next he studied two years at Lhuntse Higher Secondary School (LHSS) which was then Phuyum Higher Secondary School.
After he completed 12th standard from LHSS, he joined one of the colleges in India, though he formerly was selected as student to be studying at College of Natural Resources, Lobesa.
